La mente es una maquinaria compleja y brillante, pero no tiene “botón de apagado”.  Mediante diversas herramientas, como la respiración y la atención plena, se pueden generar espacios de descanso para la mente agitada. 

En la cotidianidad de la mayoría de las personas, se presentan tiempos agitados, donde el multitasking y una mente que no se detiene, llevan a no poder sentirse pleno en el momento presente. 
La estimulación externa influye en las reacciones y los pensamientos. Cuando una persona está expuesta a estos estímulos en un tiempo excesivo, sea computadora, televisor, ruido de la calle, trabajo en exceso, la mente, “se olvida” de los momentos de “no-mente”, de “respirar” y de no pensar.
Y en ese continuo ruido interno, aparecen sentimientos que se generan del continuo funcionamiento mental. La mente, va hacia el pasado y hacia el futuro, sin poder detenerse en el presente, en la mera observación y disfrute del momento en que uno se encuentra. 

Cuando uno siente preocupación, el cuerpo genera ansiedad. La preocupación, son pensamientos inútiles en la mente y eso repercute en el cuerpo como si algo malo estuviera sucediendo. Esto lleva muchas veces a comportamientos adictivos (a la comida, al tabaco, al alcohol y a las drogas) y genera finalmente, además del daño por los pensamientos, un mal colateral.

Vivir durante mucho tiempo en esta situación es dañino tanto para el cuerpo como para la mente, por lo tanto se debe vigilar y estar atento a los pensamientos que se tienen. 

La manera de estar atento es traerse al momento presente, y dar una pausa a los pensamientos. Se debe recordar, que la mente, no se detiene con la mente, por lo tanto es recomendable, elegir alguna técnica, como por ejemplo la respiración consciente, para darse cuenta de que eso que está en la mente no está sucediendo en realidad. 

La respiración es lo que conecta a la mente con el cuerpo, porque el cuerpo siempre está en el momento presente, y en esa acción consciente, la mente no puede estar en otro lugar, ya que uno pasa de “pensar” a “sentir”. 
Otra forma de traerse al presente es sentir la vitalidad interior, sentir la fuerza de la vida moviéndose dentro, como también volverse plenamente consciente, observando todo, percibiendo, escuchando, sin juzgar y sin ponerle nombre, mirando los colores, las formas, todo lo que existe y sólo Es. 

Todo esto nos lleva al momento presente, y todo lo otro desaparece, porque uno se ubica en el ahora, aceptando el presente, sin resistirse. 

Es posible vivir sin miedo y ansiedad, y es todo parte del proceso del despertar de la consciencia. Si el miedo está allí, la primera tarea es reconocerlo, aceptando que está allí, sin alimentarlo ni permitir que genere pensamientos. Darle un lugar, observarlo, abrazarlo, y una vez que esto sucede, el miedo se transforma, se vuelve un espacio de presencia, entonces se disuelve.

El miedo y la ansiedad son vampiros del tiempo y de la energía, si aprendemos a controlarlos y a gobernar estos sentimientos, la vida se vuelve mucho más productiva y feliz, ya que disponemos de todo nuestro potencial para vivir plenamente.
La mente no debería estar en el pasado, recordando hechos, anécdotas o ideas que puedan ponernos un freno, tampoco debería estar en el futuro imaginando sin llevar los pensamientos a la acción, sino que la mente debería estar en un sano equilibrio, entre el recuerdo, la imaginación fructífera y el momento presente, con atención plena.
